We are excited to announce the inauguration of the new REM TEC Agrovoltaico® system at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza!
Today, we celebrate an important achievement: the first plant in Italy featuring advanced T2.3 dual-axis tracking technology. This system, installed 5 meters above the ground, enables the panels to be oriented for optimal sunlight exposure, while also supporting the growth of various crops planted underneath. Thanks to this innovative approach, 90% of the energy produced will be directly self-consumed by the institution, making it a model of sustainability and energy efficiency.
At REM Tec, supporting agronomic scientific research beneath our systems is crucial. We firmly believe that technology should be validated and guided by science, which is why we take pride in supporting agronomic experiments beneath the panels. In the plant inaugurated today, the rows of panels are spaced between 15 and 18 meters apart and have adjustable tilts, allowing us to assess the impact of varying levels of shading on crop growth.
This project represents another step in a journey that began in 2011 in Piacenza and continues internationally with installations in Europe, Asia, and North Africa. With ongoing investments in research, REM Tec is dedicated to developing increasingly sustainable and dynamic agrovoltaic solutions. As emphasized by AIAS - Associazione Italiana Agrivoltaico Sostenibile the sustainability of an agrivoltaic system encompasses not only electricity and agricultural production but also environmental, social, landscape, safety, and economic impacts.
