ECOMONDO 2023: REM TEC,HubFarm, New Holland e XFarm present AGRI SOLAR DEMO FARM
On Wednesday, November 8th 2023, during the 26th edition of Ecomondo, the trade fair dedicated to ecological transition, a press conference was held to announce the new collaboration between REM Tec, New Holland, X Farm, and Hub Farm for the AGRI SOLAR DEMO FARM pilot project. This pilot project aims to establish an energy-independent agricultural company for self-consumption, with the perspective of developing a circular economic model in agriculture with a "net zero" carbon footprint.
The collaboration involves key players such as CNHI, a leading manufacturer of cutting-edge electric tractors; REM Tec, owner of Agrovoltaico® technology; XFarm, one of the primary digital platforms in the agricultural sector; and Hubfarm, a sustainable innovation project supported by Confagricoltura for its members.
This initiative actively promotes the transition towards sustainable and circular agriculture by harnessing the synergies between technology, renewable energy, and data analysis. Tractors powered by clean electric energy generated from agrivoltaic installations will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and optimizing energy resources.
Through a digital platform, information will be collected regarding tractor performance, energy production levels from agrivoltaic systems, and other key metrics. These data will then be utilized by a decision support system to optimize agriculture, maximize yields, and reduce waste.
The project, known as Agri Solar Demo Farm, is located on a REM Tec agricultural site in the municipality of Borgo Virgilio, Mantova, spanning across 14 hectares with approximately 100% of the surface dedicated to rotating herbaceous crops
